History
UNESCO and WTA have been working in close cooperation during last several years. Both organization have signed a mutual understanding, insupporting science city(technopolis) development through promoting the sharing of experience, facilitating technology transger and encouraging cooperation among science cities.
This cooperation based on the awareness of UNESCO and WTA that there exist important synergies and complementary elements that may be enhanced for the benefit of their respective missions in global context.

  54 participants from 28 cities in 17 countries, including 11 lecturers and 24 case presenters.

April 7 During its 174th Session, the UNESCO Executive Board approved of a formal cooperation between UNESCO and WTA in form of operational relations, implementing a dynamic take-off into world prestigious international non-governmental organization (NGO)

  International Training Workshop on High-tech Clusters in Global Context
  Two Keynote Speakes and 12 lectures from Universities, Science Parks and Regional Governments.

November 20-22 ”°Towards Sustainable Growth of Science and Technology Park :Role of Technology Business Incubation in Techno Park”±
  It consisted of a Keynote speaker , 13 lecturers and 123 participants from 23 countries. They shared their knowledge and experiences on main strategies from pre-incubation to stable settlement of Technology Business Incubator towards sustainable growth of science and technology park.

Objectives and Strategies
The main objective of the project is to enhance the capacities of developing countries in the management of science, technology and innovation for sustainable development. Among other areas the project may focus on fields such as information and communication technology, biotechnology as well as other high-tech activities.
The basic element of the project is capacity building and technical assistance in science city governance. Specifically, the project will offer capacity building activities on the requirements for, and establishment and management of a science city. Furthermore, it will also provide technical assistance and policy advice through pilot projects in the following regions: Asia, Africa, Arab States, East Europe and Latin America

Project Activities
Capacity building on science city development (innovation clustering)
  We expect to organize one training workshop program per year with 25 managers and researchers from 5 different regions : Africa, Arab States, Asia, Latin America, East Europe. The participants in the training are members of a network for science city development in their region and will actively participate in development of pilot projects.
   
Technical assistance on science city development on 5 pilot projects
  In the framework of this project, a set of technical assistance will be organized in order to help developing countries to develop a science city.
  Preparation of feasibility study
  Elaboration of science city development plan
  Technical advice on networking
  Fund seeking and science city establishment
  Foreign investment promotion
   
Support research and publication related to technopolis development
  The UNESCO-WTA Technopolis Development Center for science city governance will host researchers and intense, at least one Ph.D or Master degree student. The students should prepare research on subject linking with science city development.

  UNESCO and WTA will work together to transger scientific knowledge and innovative strategies to underdeveloped sountries, as well as to WTA member cities
 
   
   
 
   
  This body will support, organize and manage annual training and technical assistance on science city governance. The trainees will be involved in the preparation, establishment and management of the pilot project in their region.
The center will also be used to host training, research and publication relate to science city. All of these activites will strengthen the capacity of the center as a unique platform in science city goverance.
Project funds will also be used to organize training, prepare and establish 5 pilot projects, and engage experts to undertake specific tasks in provision of technical assistance. Financial inputs from other intergovernment organizations, foundations, governments and private sector will be sought to further develop and expend these activities.
