On 28 January IASP Director General, Luis Sanz, attended a meeting at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris with Deog-Song Oh, Secretary General of WTA, Mustafa El-Tayeb, Director of UNESCO’s Science Analysis and Policies Division, and Yoslan Nur, a high official of that Division.
Under the auspices and encouragement of UNESCO, IASP and WTA agreed to develop joint training programs related to Science Park creation and management and enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation in developing countries. The MOU will also encompass collaboration schemes between both associations for providing technical assistance to countries willing to launch Science Parks and Business incubators, and the creation of an international Journal devoted to these topics and gathering state-of-the-art contributions from top academics and Science Park practitioners.
The IASP, which is a recognised NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, will soon seek to establish a formal alliance with UNESCO.
