The investment zone at the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications is considered as a new and unique mechanism in the research centers in Egypt. The main scope of SRTA-City investment zone is to invest in Knowledge and to transfer applied research and innovation to Hi-Tech products and technology marketing. This will help to overcome the gap between academia and industry and interconnect between them and government throughout applying what is well known the triple Helix model.
WTA (World Technolopolis Association), which is one of the well internationally recognized organizations in the field of science and technology parks in planning and management delivered two lectures by Prof. Deog Seong Oh, Secretary in General WTA and Prof. Byung - Joo Kang, Director of UNESCO-WTA Technopolis Development Center. This event is one of the great and continuous collaboration between WTA and SRTA-City, which started in 2007 with the delegation visit form (WTA-UNESCO) within the frame of evaluating a number of Egyptian universities and research institutes to be considered as a pilot of Science and Technology Park. They have assigned SRTA-City as the most advanced institution having the potential to fulfill the requirements of Science and Technology Parks in Egypt. Through 2008-2015, many delegates from SRTA-City participated in most events organized by WTA and Daedeok Innopolis (STP Management, WTA Daejeon Hi-Tech Fair, Daejeon Global Innovation Forum and International Training Workshop - UNESCO-WTA). In 2010, a Memorandum of Acceptance (MOA) was signed between WTA and SRTA-City (Formerly MuCSAT) for the cooperation of Master plan of the investment zone project. In 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between World Technopolis Association, Mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City, INNOBIZ Foundation, Daejeon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Republic of Korea) and SRTA-City, (Egypt) for the benefits to companies in SRTA-City and the Korean Science Park Companies.
