Official Agreement made on September 29 between WTA and UNESCO
The agreement among UNESCO, WTA and KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) to implement UNESCO University-Industry-Science Partnership Program was finalized at 10:00 AM September 29, 2006 UNESCO HQ, Paris, France in attendance of Park Seoung-Hyo, President of WTA; Oh Deoug-Seong, Secretary-General of WTA and La Tae-Ho, Director of WTA Secretariat; with also other ranking officials from Korean side and UNESCO£§ s high ranking officials together with Korean permanent Delegation to UNESCO.
The project will be continued through December 2010 starting January 2006 with input budget of 1,000,000 US$ requiring each year 200,000 US$. The program focuses on :
1. Capacity building and technical assistance in innovation clustering - technopolis development in the developing countries and WTA members.
2. Training of managers of technology parks and high-tech clusters and scientists from selected developing countries and WTA members, to enable them assume successfully their responsibilty in promoting and managing science and technology innovation.
3. Provision of technical assistance and policy advice towards the development of technology parks through pilot projects in the regions of : Asia, Africa, Arab States and Latin America.
4. Assistance to the Daejeon City in establishing of an international Center in technology parks/technology development.
For persuing positive implemetation of this program, WTA is now in progress accepting applications who want to pariticipate in the international training workshop on "High-tech Clusters in Global Context" to be held on Novermebt 6-10, Daejeon, Republic of Korea.
